About the Project

Ordinary Folk is a motion design & animation studio based in Vancouver, BC.

When Ordinary Folk approached me to work on their brand identity and online presence I was pretty stoked. They’re one of the leading motion design agencies in the space. I felt honored that they hired me for this project.

Brief

This was my brief:

Some believe it is only great power that can hold evil in check, but that is not what I have found. It is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love.
— JRR Tolkien

I needed to create an “ordinary logo” which I translated as a “simple” logo that was capable of achieving a jaw dropping visual when used properly. In other words, simple yet powerful.

That’s how we landed on the “ordinary dot”, a dot that when came to life via motion design, was capable of achieving great things.

Web Design & Development

When it came to designing the Ordinary Folk website I needed to embrace the word “ordinary”.

Just like the logo, I needed to keep the web layout and structure pretty simple. I did this to allow the work created by ordinary folks (pun intended) to shine and be what is impressive about the site.

As for the development of site I invited Shiloh Hubbard to help me develop the site on Webflow.
